Structural design of concrete structures; prerequisite course 133FSTC Fundamentals of Structural Design - Concrete.
Calculation models, methods of analysis (focus on simplified and empirical methods), reinforcing and detailing for particular structures and structural elements: slabs, frames, shear walls, staircase, basement and retaining walls, foundations.
- Contents:

1. Structural design of concrete structures, calculation models, methods of analysis (linear analysis, redistribution, etc.);
2. Concrete frames (sway frames, braced frames), reinforcing, detailing;
3. Design of slender columns; Design for torsion;
4. Slabs, one way slabs, two way slabs supported on edges;
5. Two way slabs supported on edges;
6. Flat slabs; slabs on columns, empirical methods (Direct Design Method, Equivalent Frame Method);
7. Punching;
8. Multi-storey buildings, structural system, stiffening;
9. Shear walls;
10. Staircases;
11. Foundation;
12. Retaining walls, basements walls;
13. Deep beam, corbel, ledge.
- Seminar contents:

Task 1 Reinforced concrete frame: preliminary design of frame structure; calculation of internal forces in frame structure; reinforcement of the beam; column reinforcement; reinforcement drawing.
Task 2 Two-way slab supported on edges: preliminary design; moment analysis; reinforcement design and drawing.
Task 3 Slab supported by columns: preliminary design; moment and punching analysis; reinforcement.
Task 4 Stiffening wall: design using empirical (simplified) method.
Task 5 Staircase ? design of slab staircase.
Task 6 Spread footings ? analysis of plain concrete and reinforced concrete pad footing.
Task 7 Structural drawing.
