The subject describes the basics of the design of steel and composite bridges.
Contents:
The general definitions and principles of bridge designing. Different disposition of bridges, description of bridge deck, bridge equipment as bearings, expansion joints, waterproofing, crash barriers, rails etc. Beam bridges, composite beam bridges, truss bridges. Grid bridges. Skew bridges. Horizontally curved bridges. Frame bridges. Arch bridges. Cable stayed and suspension bridges with long span.
Preliminary design of a steel railway bridge structure.
