The course is focused on basic rules for mechanical resistance, serviceability, durability of timber structures in normal temperature and in fire.
Contents:
1. History of timber structures.
2. Wood properties.
3. Structural timber.
4. Engineered wood products.
5. Limit states design.
6. Evaluation of tension, compression, shear and bending capacity.
7. Members carrying combined actions.
8. Design of connections.
9. Planar and spatial timber structures.
10. Timber frame houses.
11. Timber bridges.
12. Fire resistance of timber structures.
13. Durability of timber structures, transportation and erection.
Seminar contents:
1. Design of a column.
2. Design of a floor beam.
3. Design of a spliced connection.
4. Design of a pitched cambered beam.
5. Evaluation of a floor serviceability.
6. Evaluation of a beam fire resistance.
