- Description:
-
The course brings an integrative approach to structural wood design that considers the design of the individual wood members in the context of the complete wood structure so that all of the structural components and connectors work together in providing strength.
- Contents:
-
*1. Development of wooden structures, wood and wood-based materials, basics of design.
*2. Loading, design and assessment of structural elements, design of basic types of load-bearing structures.
*3. Advanced connection design.
*4. Modelling of wooden structures.
*5. Stability of load-bearing structures.
*6. The advanced design of planar wooden structures.
*7. Spatial wooden structures.
*8. Skeletal wooden constructions and constructions of wooden constructions.
*9. Construction of trusses.
*10. Wooden bridges and footbridges.
*11. Reconstruction, protection of wooden structures.
*12. Design of structures for the effects of fire.
*13. Excursion
- Seminar contents:
-
*1. Design of hall layout, the position of bracing systems and their shape, design of layers of wall and roof cladding, calculation of permanent and climatic loads on walls and roof of the structure, empirical design of dimensions of main load-bearing elements and creation of spatial or planar models using computer software.
*2. Design of purlins and gable beams.
*3. Design of double tapered timber beams and columns.
*4. Design of beam to column connection and purlin to beam connection.
*5. Design of horizontal and vertical bracing systems.
*6. Drawing documentation (drawings of roof layout, longitudinal cross-section, view on gable frame and drawings of two selected details).
6. Drawing documentation (drawings of roof layout, longitudinal cross-section, view on gable frame and drawings of two selected details).
