Introduction to accelerators, their history and classification, and description of accelerators parameters. Description of ion sources, all types of linear accelerators (electro-static, induction, oscillating fields), circular accelerators (induction, oscillating fields, synchrotrons) and technologies connected to accelerators. The focus lies in accelerators applications, foremost in medicine and technology (industry), but also in basic research, with examples of such applications
